This study examines the critical role of school leaders in tackling socio-economic and cultural challenges in secondary education within the OR Tambo Inland region. By analyzing leadership strategies and community engagement, it highlights the importance of adaptive leadership in creating equitable educational settings. The research, utilizing qualitative methods through interviews and focus groups with school leaders, teachers, and community stakeholders, identifies strategies to overcome barriers affecting student outcomes. Key findings indicate that effective leadership includes collaboration, community partnerships, and culturally relevant curricula, with an emphasis on resilience and adaptability. Concluding that school leaders are pivotal in navigating these complexities, the study recommends that educational policies enhance support for school leaders through tailored professional development and resources.
