This study explores the reinterpretation of Sasi within current generational context, analyzing how younger Maluku inhabitants perceive and engage with the tradition amidst the transformative forces of modernity. Using qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews with Gen Z representatives, community leaders, and cultural experts, this research examines how Sasi's ecological, social, and spiritual dimensions resonate with contemporary lifestyles. Findings reveal a generational divergence in meaning: while older custodians emphasize its sacred and communal values, Gen Z often views Sasi as a symbolic relic, disconnected from their urban-centric and technology-driven realities. Leveraging digital media and educational frameworks to integrate Sasi with modern sustainability narratives can bridge generational divides. By aligning traditional values with contemporary ecological and social concerns, Sasi can be transformed into a living tradition, relevant to Gen Z and beyond.
